Community, Population and Public Health

Chair: Marissa Khajavi, MD, MPH
Vice Chair: Melissa Reyes, MD, MPH

This track focuses on the design, implementation and evaluation of strategies to improve health outcomes across communities and populations, it explores the role of preventive medicine in addressing social determinants of health, advancing health equity, and shaping systems that support public well-being at the local, regional and national levels.

Objectives 

  • Highlight innovative approaches to improving population health and reducing disparities. 
  • Showcase models of community-based prevention and public health practices. 
  • Explore cross sector collaborations that enhance population level interventions. 
  • Examine policy and system-level strategies that elevate preventive medicine in public health practice. 
  • Quality assessment, quality improvement or quality assurance initiatives.

Clinical Preventive Medicine

Chair: Rachel Annam, MD, MPH, FACPM
Vice Chair: Case Keltner, MD, MPH, MS

This track examines the role of preventive medicine in clinical settings, with an emphasis on evidence-based prevention, risk reduction, screening and lifestyle interventions. It includes innovations in service delivery, technology integration and practice models that bridge population health with individualized care. 

Objectives

  • Present best practices and research in clinical preventive services and implementation.
  • Explore models that integrate preventive care into primary and specialty practice.
  • Highlight digital tools, clinical guidelines and emerging practices that enhance prevention.
  • Discuss reimbursement, quality measures and health system design to support clinical prevention.

Advances in the Specialty of Preventive Medicine 

Chair: Major Terra Forward, DO, MBA, MPH, FACPM
Vice Chair: Aristotle Sun, MD, MPH, FACPM

This track addresses the future of the preventive medicine specialty itself — including workforce development, training, certification, funding mechanisms, advocacy and the specialty’s evolving identity. Sessions will focus on securing a robust and sustainable specialty that is equipped to lead in prevention across all domains of health. 

Objectives

  • Discuss trends, challenges and innovations in preventive medicine education and residency training.
  • Examine strategies to strengthen the preventive medicine workforce pipeline and retention.
  • Explore advocacy, credentialing and specialty recognition to elevate the field.
  • Share models for integrating preventive medicine leadership into diverse health systems.

Global, Environmental and Planetary Health

This track explores the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health in a global context. It emphasizes planetary health, environmental justice and global disease prevention. Sessions will address how preventive medicine can contribute to sustainable health across systems and borders. 

Objectives

  • Examine global and transnational health issues through a preventive lens. 
  • Explore Planetary approaches to surveillance, policy and practice. 
  • Discuss the health impacts of climate change and environmental degradation. 
  • Highlight collaborations that advance global health equity and sustainability.
